The immediate family of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu popularly known as Daddy Lumba has filed a fresh lawsuit seeking to stop the planned burial scheduled for 13 December 2025.
The legal action, which began circulating on social media on 5 December 2025, was initiated by Obaapanin Afia Adomah, Robert Gyamfi (also called Wofa Yaw Poku), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosu, and Nana Afia Kobi.
They accuse the family head of mismanaging key matters and attempting to take full control of both the funeral arrangements and the post-burial rites.
The plaintiffs argue that the family head, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, has deliberately kept them out of crucial decisions regarding the funeral.
They further claim that Owusu and others authorised an autopsy on the late musician without their consent an action they believe requires a full and independent investigation.
To that end, they have lodged a complaint with the Ghana Police Service’s Homicide Division, urging a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death.
The suit also implicates CalBank, asserting that the committee responsible for handling donations paid into the DL Foundation account during the one-week celebration has been dissolved.
Before new signatories could be appointed, Owusu allegedly withdrew GH¢11,000 from the account. The plaintiffs say he later made another unauthorised withdrawal of GH¢60,000 on 11 November 2025.
As a result, they are asking the court to bar CalBank from allowing any further withdrawals by Owusu from the DL Foundation account.
They are also seeking a temporary injunction against Transitions Funeral Home to prevent it from releasing Daddy Lumba’s body to Owusu for burial. Part of the suit reads: “…stop Transitions Funeral Home from releasing the corpse to Owusu or anyone acting on his behalf until the suit is determined.”
The case is expected to be heard in court on 11 December 2025.
