Emma Watson

Emma Watson, a former “Harry Potter” star, has been banned from driving for six months after she was found speeding.

The 35-year-old British actress and activist was caught driving her blue Audi at 38 mph in a 30-mph zone in Oxford, England, on the evening of July 31, 2018.

Emma Watson did not attend the brief hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where she was fined £1,044 ($1,400) and barred from driving, according to PA Media.

Following Watson’s case, the court considered another speeding offence involving her former “Harry Potter” co-star, Zoë Wanamaker.

The famous actress, who played Quidditch referee Madam Hooch in the franchise’s first film, received the same term as Watson after being caught driving at 46 mph in a 40 mph zone in Berkshire, southeast England, in August of last year, according to PA.

According to the news agency, both actresses had nine penalty points on their licenses prior to the speeding events.

On Wednesday, District Judge Arvind Sharma endorsed three additional points on their licenses for the most recent offences, which resulted in compulsory six-month bans under UK law.

CNN has contacted Watson’s reps for comment. A spokesman from Wanamaker declined to comment.

The twin rulings signal a strange convergence for two performers whose careers previously overlapped in the corridors of Hogwarts and who now find themselves off the road simultaneously.

Watson, who catapulted to international recognition as Hermione Granger in all eight “Harry Potter” films, has since pursued a parallel career in education, filmmaking, and women’s rights campaigning.

Her post-“Potter” film credits include starring roles in “Beauty and the Beast” and Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women.”
