The U.S. Embassy in Accra has made available more than 2,000 new visa interview slots for B1/B2 applicants over the next two weeks, creating earlier travel opportunities for people intending to visit the United States for tourism, business, family visits, or sporting events.
According to an announcement shared through the Embassy’s official platforms, the newly released appointments are open to travellers with various purposes, including those hoping to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The Embassy encouraged interested applicants to quickly book the available slots. It stated that over 2,000 interview appointments are currently open for B1/B2 visa applicants planning activities such as business travel, tourism, family visits, or attending the upcoming World Cup tournament.
Individuals who already have visa interviews scheduled later in the year have also been advised to log into the visa application system and reschedule to an earlier date if they wish. This option is intended to help reduce waiting times as demand for U.S. visas continues to rise.
B1/B2 visas cover both temporary business and tourism visits. Applicants must schedule interviews through the official visa application website and ensure they have all required documents ready before their interview date.
The update comes amid growing interest in travel for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. While the tournament is attracting significant attention from Ghanaian football supporters, the newly opened visa appointments are available to all eligible B1/B2 applicants, not only sports fans.
With the additional interview slots now accessible, the Embassy is urging applicants to book early to secure suitable dates and to keep checking official channels for further updates and instructions to prevent delays in the application process.
