Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to 50 countries worldwide with visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or e-visa access, with permitted stays ranging from 21 to 120 days depending on the destination.
The Government of Ghana has also confirmed that negotiations are ongoing to secure additional visa waiver agreements aimed at expanding global mobility for its citizens.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that this milestone significantly enhances the strength and global appeal of the Ghanaian passport.
According to him, the newly expanded list of visa-exempt destinations reflects Ghana’s growing diplomatic ties and commitment to easing international travel restrictions.
Importantly, the term “visa-exempt” goes beyond fully visa-free access. It includes a combination of visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival options, and electronic visa (e-visa) processes, giving Ghanaian travelers more flexible and convenient entry routes across different countries.
This development is expected to boost tourism, international business opportunities, education, and bilateral cooperation.
It also positions the Ghanaian passport more competitively on the global stage while reducing the cost and stress associated with traditional visa applications.
