Visa-free countries for Ghanaians 2025

Ghana’s passport has gained more strength in 2025 following a series of bilateral agreements that now allow citizens to travel to more destinations without the stress of applying for visas.

These developments are expected to boost tourism, trade, education, and cultural exchanges while easing travel for ordinary citizens. Here are nine new countries Ghanaians can now visit visa-free.

Visa-free countries for Ghanaians 2025

1. Morocco

In 2025, Ghana and Morocco signed a landmark agreement that replaced traditional visas with a simplified online travel authorization. This move has made it easier for Ghanaians to visit Morocco for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

2. Mozambique

Ghana’s Parliament ratified a visa waiver agreement with Mozambique, allowing both nations’ citizens to travel without visas. This strengthens intra-African cooperation and trade.

3. São Tomé and Príncipe

The island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe also approved a visa waiver deal with Ghana. This means Ghanaian travellers can now enjoy seamless trips to one of Africa’s most attractive island destinations.

4. Colombia

In South America, Colombia is the latest country to welcome Ghanaians visa-free. This agreement marks an important milestone, opening up cultural and business opportunities between the two nations.

5. Dominica

The Caribbean state of Dominica now grants Ghanaian citizens visa-free entry. This creates opportunities for tourism and people-to-people exchanges between West Africa and the Caribbean.

6. Algeria

Ghana and Algeria agreed on a mutual visa exemption deal. Currently, it mainly benefits holders of diplomatic and service passports, but negotiations are underway to extend the waiver to ordinary passport holders as well.

7. Angola

Angola joined the growing list of African countries opening their borders to Ghanaians without visas. The agreement encourages easier movement across the continent for business and cultural ties.

8. Serbia

In Europe, Serbia has approved visa-free travel for Ghanaian passport holders. This marks a major step forward, giving Ghanaians greater access to Eastern Europe.

9. Additional Ongoing Agreements

While most agreements are already active, some are still in the process of being fully implemented, especially for ordinary passports. Countries like Algeria are expected to extend full visa-free access soon, expanding Ghana’s global travel freedom even further.

With these new agreements, Ghanaians now enjoy greater mobility across Africa, Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. The government’s push to make the Ghanaian passport stronger is beginning to bear fruit, giving travellers more opportunities for tourism, education, and trade while enhancing Ghana’s global standing.
