Shakira is once again taking centre stage in World Cup music after being selected for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup titled Dai Dai, alongside Nigerian superstar Burna Boy.

The Colombian singer announced the project through a collaborative Instagram post with Global Citizen and the FIFA World Cup.

In the teaser, Shakira appears dressed in a bright yellow top and royal blue miniskirt while holding a football, as a one-minute preview of the song and music video was unveiled ahead of its official release on May 14.

In the clip, filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Shakira sings lyrics about strength and belonging before aerial shots of the stadium appear with the message, “We are ready.”

Dai Dai combines reggaetón influences with Afrobeats, creating a sound that merges the musical styles of both Shakira and Burna Boy.

The track marks Shakira’s second official FIFA World Cup anthem after her globally successful Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which served as the soundtrack for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Waka Waka achieved major commercial success, reaching No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts in 2010.

The song also climbed to No. 8 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart and peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Additionally, it spent 42 weeks at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, becoming one of Shakira’s longest-running chart-toppers.

The announcement of Dai Dai follows Shakira’s recent performance at the Todo Mundo No Rio festival in Copacabana, where she entertained more than two million fans.

It also comes shortly after the singer revealed additional U.S. dates for her highly popular Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
