The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an impact-based weather advisory, warning residents of expected moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds and potential flash flooding across several parts of the country on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
According to the agency, a previously forecast rain-bearing cloud system has formed over portions of the coastal and inland regions and is expected to produce moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied in some cases by thunderstorms.

In its latest weather bulletin released at 0745 UTC, GMet indicated that sections of the Western, Central, Greater Accra and Volta regions are likely to experience rainstorms between 0745 UTC and 1000 UTC.
These areas have been placed under the “Be Aware” and “Be Prepared” alert categories, indicating the potential for weather-related disturbances.
The northern part of the country is also expected to face severe weather conditions. The Upper East, North East, Northern, Upper West and Savannah regions are forecast to receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms between 0745 UTC and 1400 UTC.
GMet further noted that some communities within the Upper West and Savannah regions could face heightened weather threats between 0945 UTC and 1500 UTC.
These areas have been assigned a higher warning level, prompting residents and local authorities to take precautionary actions.

The agency warned that the expected storms may be accompanied by moderate to strong winds capable of damaging vulnerable structures, uprooting trees and disrupting transportation services.
In addition, GMet cautioned that low-lying and flood-prone communities could experience localised flooding, particularly in areas where intense rainfall occurs within a short period.
Residents in the affected regions have been urged to stay vigilant, limit unnecessary movement during periods of heavy rain, secure loose outdoor items and avoid floodwaters, drains and other potentially hazardous areas.
