Chelsea initially planned a loan move for Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich with a record loan fee and an option to buy.

However, they blocked or scrapped the loan move due to the injury of Liam Delap, a striker they signed this summer, which made Chelsea need to keep Jackson as part of their squad.

Why Chelsea blocked Nicolas Jackson move to Bayern Munich

Despite Jackson flying to Germany for a medical and having agreed personal terms with Bayern, Chelsea decided to pull out of the loan deal, prioritizing squad depth following Delap’s injury, which left Chelsea short on strikers.

The loan deal had included a £13 million upfront fee and a £56.2 million option to buy, which would have matched Chelsea’s valuation of Jackson. The move was also influenced by Bayern’s need for a backup striker to Harry Kane.

However, Chelsea’s immediate need for striking options after Delap’s injury led to the blocking of Jackson’s loan switch to Bayern Munich
