Liverpool sign Isak

Newcastle United forward, Alexander Isak has been signed by Liverpool for a British transfer record of £125 million.

There is now an agreement in place for the Sweden international to go to Anfield, according to people close to the transaction who spoke to BBC Sport.

According to Newcastle sources, with add-ons, the deal might be worth up to £130 million.

Before agreeing to a six-year contract, Isak is anticipated to have a medical examination on Monday.

Liverpool is now expected to get their top summer target after their initial £110 million approach was turned down in August.

After Newcastle acquired striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart last week, the lengthy drama surrounding the 25-year-old seemed to be coming to a close on the last day of the summer transfer season.

This summer, Liverpool smashed their club transfer record when they signed Florian Wirtz, an attacking midfielder from Germany, for an initial £100 million plus an additional £16 million in add-ons.

That expenditure would be topped by Isak’s arrival. The acquisition would boost the club’s spending to almost £416 million without add-on costs after also bringing in Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Giovanni Leoni.

With the Reds negotiating a deal to recruit England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, Liverpool may still go on the rampage.

Meanwhile, an initial sum of roughly £190 million has been recovered from the exits of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton, and Ben Doak.
