Abu Trica

Swedru-based businessman Abu Trica is still in custody after failing to meet the GH₵30 million bail conditions set by the Accra High Court in his ongoing extradition case.

Although bail was granted on April 21, 2026, by the court’s General Jurisdiction 2 Division, the businessman has been unable to fulfill the requirements, which include providing two justified sureties. As a result, he has remained detained for over a week.

The court has now instructed his legal team to file an application seeking a review of the bail terms. Reports indicate that his lawyers are preparing a motion to request more flexible conditions, as they struggle to meet the original financial demands.

A member of his legal team, Oliver Barker Vormawor, earlier confirmed the bail ruling in a Facebook post shortly after the court’s decision.

The case has generated significant public debate, with many Ghanaians expressing mixed views over the strict bail conditions, especially as Abu Trica continues to fight extradition proceedings to the United States.

As the legal process unfolds, the court is expected to consider any revised application submitted by the defence in the coming days.
