Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong has tragically lost his life after a brutal armed robbery attack targeting the club’s team bus along the Bibiani–Goaso road at Ahyiresu.
The incident happened on Sunday while the team was returning to Berekum following their Ghana Premier League Matchday clash against FC Samartex at DUN’s Park, where they suffered a 1–0 defeat.
Club sources indicate that armed assailants blocked the road and ambushed the bus, forcing players and officials to flee into nearby bushes to escape harm. The process resulted in injuries to several team members.
Frimpong, aged 20, sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the attack. He was quickly transported to Bibiani Government Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Ghana Police Service has since initiated a manhunt to track down those responsible, while efforts continue to locate and account for some players and officials who remain missing after the attack.
Frimpong had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, with his deal expected to last until the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. He made 13 league appearances, scoring two goals before his untimely passing.
