Nine players have reported to the Black Stars’ training camp in Wales as preparations begin for Ghana’s international friendly against Wales on June 2 in Cardiff ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Among the first batch of players to arrive are Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Gideon Mensah, Jerome Opoku, Marvin Senaya, and Alidu Seidu, all of whom appeared in a video shared widely on social media.
More players are expected to join the camp in the coming days following the conclusion of most European football leagues.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet officially announced the squad for the Wales friendly or the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku previously confirmed that the final squad list will be unveiled on June 1.
The Black Stars head into the friendly match after suffering five consecutive defeats, including a 2-0 loss to Mexico in their most recent game.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has maintained that selection for the World Cup squad will be based strictly on merit, stressing that only players who deserve a place will be included in the team for the expanded 48-nation tournament.
Ghana has been placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama as the Black Stars aim to qualify for the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup for the first time since the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
