Premier League club Coventry City have reached an agreement with Danish side FC Nordsjælland to sign Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi in what is set to become a record-breaking transfer.

The English club will reportedly pay €27 million, with an additional €3 million in performance-related bonuses, bringing the total package to €30 million. The transfer is expected to become the highest sale ever recorded in the history of the Danish Superliga.

Reports indicate that the 20-year-old opted to join Frank Lampard’s Coventry City after being convinced by the club’s long-term project, which includes the promise of regular playing time and a prominent role in the squad.

To complete the signing, Coventry are prepared to surpass their previous transfer record, underlining their confidence in the highly-rated Ghana international.

The move is now subject to a successful medical examination and the completion of the necessary contractual agreements before Yirenkyi officially signs a long-term contract with the Premier League side.

The midfielder is expected to travel to England in the coming days to undergo his medical, with the club hoping to officially unveil him before the end of the week.

The transfer represents another major success for FC Nordsjælland, a club widely recognised for nurturing young talents before selling them to Europe’s top leagues.

Over the years, the Danish outfit has developed several notable players, including Mohammed Kudus, Patrick Dorgu, and Sindre Walle Egeli, who have all gone on to feature in the Premier League.

Caleb Yirenkyi earned the move after an outstanding campaign with Nordsjælland, where he established himself as one of the team’s standout performers. During the last season, he made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and contributing six assists.

His reputation was further enhanced after representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where he showcased his talent on the global stage.
