Ghana have been placed in Pot 4 ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage draw, scheduled to be held in Washington DC on December 5.
The Black Stars share Pot 4 with Jordan, Cabo Verde, Curaçao, Haiti, New Zealand, the four teams that will advance from the UEFA play-offs, and the two qualifiers from the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
Their position in this pot reflects their ranking among the lowest-seeded African nations participating in the expanded 48-team competition.
Other African teams have secured higher seedings, with Morocco and Senegal placed in Pot 2, while Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa are grouped in Pot 3.
According to the draw rules, Ghana are expected to be matched against a top-tier side from Pot 1 potentially Spain, Argentina, or England as well as a Pot 2 nation such as Croatia, Japan, or long-time rivals Uruguay, depending on how the draw unfolds.
The format also guarantees that no group will feature more than one African team.
Ghana earned their spot at the tournament by topping Group I with 25 points, finishing ahead of Mali, Madagascar, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Comoros.
The Black Stars will learn their official group-stage opponents once the draw is held on December 5.
