Javits Frimpong shooting

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has expressed confidence that American law enforcement authorities will identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong in New York.

The Ambassador has called for a comprehensive investigation into the fatal shooting, stressing the need for authorities to establish whether the suspected attackers had any links to individuals allegedly involved in bullying the teenager at school.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, November 2, Mr Smith said investigators could rely on surveillance cameras installed along streets surrounding the crime scene to gather evidence and identify the perpetrators, notwithstanding reports that the attackers wore masks during the incident.

He expressed optimism that the police were making progress with their investigations and would provide further information about the individuals responsible for the killing.

Mr Smith stated that he expected law enforcement officials to establish the identities of those behind the attack and share the findings with him as investigations continued.

Ambassador Calls for Investigation Into Alleged School Bullying

Beyond identifying the suspected killers, the Ghanaian diplomat said investigators must examine the possible connection between the shooting and the alleged bullying Javits experienced at school.

He emphasised that the investigation should establish whether the individuals responsible for the attack were directly involved in the bullying or had connections with those accused of mistreating the teenager.

According to him, it is important for the police to investigate every possible motive rather than assume that the killing was necessarily connected to the reported school incident.

Mr Smith, however, cautioned against prematurely accusing the student alleged to have bullied Javits of participating in the shooting.

He explained that he could not establish whether the alleged bully was directly involved in the killing, particularly as the police continued to identify and question individuals in connection with the case.

The Ambassador noted that school records could provide investigators with useful information about the student allegedly involved in the bullying and help establish whether there were any connections between the individual and the suspected attackers.

He maintained that the police must rely on evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

Bronx Residents to Hold Vigil in Honour of Javits

Meanwhile, residents of the Bronx neighbourhood where Javits was killed are expected to organise a vigil on Thursday, November 5, to remember the teenager and call for stronger action against youth violence.

The gathering is also expected to draw attention to growing concerns about gun violence, knife-related offences and other criminal activities involving young people in the community.

Organisers and community members are expected to use the occasion to honour Javits’ memory while demanding measures to improve safety and protect young people from violence.

The planned vigil comes amid renewed concerns over the safety of teenagers and the need for stronger community interventions to address violence among young people.

What Happened to 15-Year-Old Ghanaian Teenager Javits Frimpong?

Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong, a 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. as he was making his way to school.

His death has raised concerns among members of the Ghanaian community in the United States and residents of the Bronx, particularly following reports that the teenager had experienced bullying at school.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the identities of the attackers and their possible motives, remain subjects of investigation.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States has therefore urged American authorities to pursue all relevant leads and establish whether the reported bullying had any connection to the fatal attack.

As investigations continue and residents prepare to honour the teenager, attention remains focused on securing justice for Javits and addressing broader concerns about youth violence and the safety of children in American communities.
