Matchday 33 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League produced thrilling action across various venues, with Medeama SC officially crowned champions with one match left to play.
The latest round also had major implications for both the race for top positions and the fight against relegation.
At the Nana Agyemang Badu II Stadium, Aduana FC claimed a convincing 3-1 win over Young Apostles. Patrick Mensah starred with two goals, while Bright Adjei also found the net for the hosts. Issah Huseine scored the consolation goal for Young Apostles.
Bechem United caused one of the weekend’s biggest upsets by defeating Asante Kotoko 3-1 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Augustine Okrah and Richard Dwamena gave the Hunters a comfortable first-half advantage before Patrick Asiedu netted late for Kotoko.
Dreams FC also enjoyed a dominant performance at the Tuba Astroturf, beating Bibiani Gold Stars 3-1. Seidu Suraj opened the scoring in the 18th minute, and Jonathan Nemorden extended the lead after halftime.
Samuel Attah Kumi briefly revived hopes for the visitors before Suraj converted a penalty to complete his brace and seal the victory.
Relegated Eleven Wonders suffered another defeat after losing 2-0 to Berekum Chelsea at the Swedru Stadium. Abubakari Seidu and Marvin Owusu each scored in either half to hand Samuel Boadu’s side all three points.
Karela United bounced back to winning form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Swedru All Blacks at the Aliu Mahama Stadium. After a tense and scoreless game for much of the afternoon, Zaidan Mohammed scored deep into stoppage time to snatch the win.
Nations FC’s relegation worries deepened after a 1-0 defeat to Vision FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Faruk Mohammed’s strike in the 38th minute proved enough to separate the two sides.
FC Samartex narrowly defeated Hearts of Oak 1-0 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in another closely fought contest. Gabriel Osei netted the decisive goal in the 54th minute following a goalless first half.
The standout result of the round came at TNA Park, where Medeama SC hammered Heart of Lions 5-2 to secure the league title in emphatic fashion. Kelvin Obeng put the hosts in control with two first-half goals, although Moses Ayidem reduced the deficit before the break.
Medeama continued their dominance in the second half as Derrick Fordjour added two more goals, while Etse Dogli converted a late penalty for Heart of Lions. Prince Owusu later added the fifth goal to cap a memorable championship-winning display.
In another development, Basake Holy Stars were handed a 3-0 victory after Hohoe United forfeited their fixture.
Following the Matchday 33 results, Medeama SC lead the standings as league champions, while Bibiani Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak and Aduana FC occupy the remaining top-four spots.
Nations FC, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders are currently in the relegation zone heading into the final games of the season.
