The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) delivered another memorable moment on Saturday, May 9, when Medikal’s smash hit Shoulder won the Best Hiplife Song of the Year award amid a night filled with electrifying performances and major victories.
The award-winning track, featuring Medikal alongside Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM, emerged as one of the biggest crowd favourites of the year, solidifying its place as one of the most dominant hiplife songs of the 2026/2027 music season.
The Best Hiplife Song category was among the toughest contests at TGMA 27, showcasing some of the biggest names in Ghanaian rap and hiplife music.
Shoulder beat strong competition from songs including Tontonte by Ko-Jo Cue featuring AratheJay and Ofori Amponsah, Next Door by Kojo Blak featuring Sarkodie, Messiah by Sarkodie featuring Kweku Flick, and Badness by Kwesi Amewuga.
The announcement sparked loud cheers inside the Grand Arena as fans celebrated Medikal’s achievement and the continued strength and popularity of hiplife music in Ghana
