The tournament was initiated and funded by 18-year-old FC Nordsjælland forward Prince Amoako Jnr, who is currently in his debut professional season with the Danish club.
Despite his rising career in Europe, the young footballer chose to give back to the Amasaman community, where his football journey first took shape.
The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere and drew the attention of notable guests, football scouts, and investment bodies, including Abdu Investment Group (AIG), an organisation dedicated to nurturing and empowering young sporting talent.
A total of eight community-based teams competed in the tournament: Siano FC, Peace Boys FC, Mighty Cosmos FC, Lion Boys FC, Nafan FC, Great Corinthians FC, Avenor Stars FC, and Oro Sporting Club.
In addition to cash rewards, participating teams received sports equipment such as Adidas sportswear, football boots, jerseys, and footballs, underscoring the tournament’s developmental focus.
Explaining his motivation for establishing the PAJ Foundation, Prince Amoako Jnr credited strong community support for his growth as a footballer. He noted that his experience at the Right to Dream Academy shaped his understanding of the importance of giving back.
“This is a give-back initiative, and I felt it was important to return and support the community with what I have,” he said.
Nafan FC emerged as overall winners, earning a cash prize of GH¢4,000, four footballs, and custom-designed PAJ Foundation jerseys. Peace Boys FC finished as runners-up and received GH¢2,000, while Oro Sporting Club secured third place with a GH¢1,000 cash prize. Both teams also benefited from additional equipment provided by tournament partners, Abdu Investment Group (AIG).
The champions dominated the individual honours, with Justice Larbi named both Best Player and Top Scorer of the tournament. His teammate, Samuel Adjako, was awarded the Golden Gloves, while head coach Andy Kpodo was recognised as Best Coach. Coach Kpodo also received a signed FC Nordsjælland jersey from Prince Amoako Jnr and a GH¢300 cash reward.
Siano FC’s Tweneboa Kodua was adjudged the Most Promising Player following a series of impressive performances throughout the competition.
Overall, the PAJ Foundation Giveback Tournament represented a meaningful boost to youth football development in Amasaman, reinforcing the positive impact of professional footballers investing in grassroots talent and community growth.
