Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is set to receive a brand-new car worth $38,000 after being recognized as the Black Stars’ Best Domestic Player.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper was honored for his impressive contribution to Ghana’s national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars progressed to the knockout stage.

The reward was announced by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku during the association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday.
Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams was present at the event when the prize was unveiled.
Asare was the only player from the Ghana Premier League included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. He featured in three of the Black Stars’ four matches during the tournament.
One of his standout displays came against England, who eventually finished with a bronze medal. Asare kept a clean sheet in the encounter as Ghana held the European side to a goalless draw.

His performances throughout the tournament earned him recognition as the best domestic-based player in the Black Stars squad.
Despite reports linking the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper with potential moves to European clubs, Asare is expected to remain the club’s first-choice goalkeeper when the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season begins.
The $38,000 vehicle represents a significant reward for Asare’s contribution to the national team and his strong performances on the international stage.
