Berekum Chelsea have confirmed that their late player, Dominic Frimpong, will be buried on April 29, 2026, in Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The 20-year-old forward lost his life after suffering gunshot wounds during a highway robbery attack last Sunday.
The team was returning to Berekum after a Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex when the incident occurred.
The attack happened along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso stretch in the Nyinahin District as the squad travelled from Samreboi.
The club stated that Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, will be laid to rest in his hometown, where family, teammates, football authorities, and supporters are expected to gather to honour his memory.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Berekum Chelsea have halted all football-related activities, allowing players and staff to undergo psychological and medical evaluations. A gradual return to normal operations is expected.
Investigations into the robbery are still underway, with police confirming that two suspects including a suspected gang leader, have already been arrested.
Tributes have continued to pour in from global football bodies such as FIFA and the Confederation of African Football, along with several clubs, following the untimely death of the young striker.
