FC Nordsjaelland sporting director Alexander Riget has suggested that Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi is prepared for a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues, with a transfer potentially taking place during the current summer window.
Yirenkyi has been one of the standout performers for the Danish Superliga side this season, enjoying a breakthrough campaign that established him among the league’s top midfielders.

The 21-year-old featured in 30 matches across all competitions, registering two goals and six assists in an impressive season that has significantly boosted his profile.
His reputation has also grown on the international stage following a series of strong displays for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The midfielder announced himself by scoring the winning goal in the Black Stars’ opening group-stage victory over Panama before making further appearances against England, Croatia and Colombia during the tournament.

Speaking on the Transferguru podcast, Riget acknowledged that FC Nordsjaelland could sanction Yirenkyi’s departure this summer, pointing to his rapid progress and consistent performances.
“Caleb has now accumulated a lot of matches, and we’ve had discussions about his future. A summer transfer is certainly possible because he has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Danish Superliga, although he appeared slightly fatigued towards the end of the season,” Riget said.
Riget also dismissed suggestions that the Ghana international would need to join a smaller European club before making the leap to a major league. According to him, Yirenkyi has the ability, maturity and mentality to compete immediately at a higher level.

“He is an exceptionally mature player. We believe he doesn’t need a stepping-stone move to a mid-table Dutch club or a lower Bundesliga side. In our view, he is ready to go straight into one of Europe’s top five leagues and compete at a higher level,” he added.
Yirenkyi’s performances have reportedly caught the attention of several prominent European clubs, with Real Madrid, Arsenal, Brighton and FC Porto among the teams said to be monitoring his progress. As the summer transfer window unfolds, speculation surrounding his next destination is expected to increase.
