Kumasi-based businessman Stephen Kwabena Boateng, widely known as Kwabena Kesse or Kessben, has died, according to reports by Myjoyonline.
The founder and chief executive officer of the KESSBEN Group of Companies reportedly passed away after a period of illness. He was 68.
Born on September 12, 1957, Kessben was raised in North Suntreso in Kumasi and went on to build a diverse business empire spanning more than three decades.
His KESSBEN Group became an umbrella organization for several companies, including Kessben Travel and Tours, Kessben Driving School, Kessben Computer School, Kessben Shipping and Forwarding Ltd., Fosua Hotel and Conference Centre, Kessben University College, Kessben Consult, and Kessben Foundation.
The group also included Kessben FM Limited, under which his media operations were registered.
Kessben was the sole shareholder of Kessben FM Limited, which operates Kessben FM, Kessben TV and Aseda TV. He also owned majority shares in Multi Credit Savings and Loans Ltd.
Beyond his business interests, Kessben was recognised for his philanthropic activities and contributions to society.
He served as a member of Ghana’s National Peace Council from 2004 to 2010, contributing to efforts aimed at promoting peace and national cohesion.
His death marks the loss of one of Kumasi’s notable entrepreneurs, whose business activities and philanthropic work made a significant impact over the years.
