Tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans thronged Accra’s Black Star Square on Saturday, October 18, 2025, for Shatta Fest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls, a grand birthday concert organised by Shatta Wale.

Although the free event was slated to start at 4:00 p.m., devoted fans began arriving as early as noon. By sunset, the venue and its surrounding streets were overflowing with supporters, many dressed in white to honour the self-proclaimed Dancehall King.

Shatta Wale, who turned a year older on October 17, said the concert was his way of showing gratitude to his loyal fan base for their unwavering support throughout his career.

The show featured an impressive lineup of Ghanaian music heavyweights, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation, among several others. Each artiste delivered electrifying performances that kept the energy levels high deep into the night.

A memorable moment came when Shatta Wale honoured veteran rapper Tinny with a citation and heartfelt tribute, recognizing his role in supporting him during his early years in music. In another touching gesture, he mediated peace between Nigerian influencers Peller and Big Jiggy, inviting them on stage to reconcile and shake hands.

The festival concluded at around 7:05 a.m. on Sunday after more than 12 hours of non-stop entertainment.

Shatta Fest 2025 was powered by MoMo Fest (Mobile Money Ghana Limited) with support from Shaxi and Charterhouse. The event has since received glowing praise from fans, music critics, and industry figures who commended Shatta Wale’s influence and showmanship.

Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Shatta Wale remains one of Ghana’s most dominant reggae-dancehall figures, celebrated for chart-topping hits like Dancehall KingMy Level, and Taking Over. His collaboration with Beyoncé on Already elevated his global recognition, solidifying his place as one of Ghana’s top music exports.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has earned numerous awards both locally and internationally and continues to command one of the most devoted fan bases in African music.

Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has submitted his newest single, Street Crown, to the Recording Academy for Grammy consideration, expressing confidence about securing a nomination in next year’s awards
