Public sector workers in Ghana are expected to benefit from a 9% increase in total remuneration from January 1, 2027, following an agreement between the government and Organized Labour.
The agreed adjustment consists of an 8% increase in base pay, alongside an additional 1% allocation towards conditions of service.
Secretary-General of Organized Labour, Joshua Ansah, disclosed the outcome on Wednesday after a meeting of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee, where representatives of both parties reached a consensus on the proposed salary adjustments.
As part of the agreement, the government and Organized Labour have also settled on a 10% across-the-board salary increase for 2028, which will take effect on January 1 of that year. The adjustment will be calculated using the applicable wage bill as of December 31, 2027.
However, the implementation of the agreement remains subject to the relevant legislative processes.
