Angel Asiamah has publicly thanked John Dramani Mahama, Lordina Mahama, and Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang after the release of his wife, controversial televangelist Patricia Asiedua, from prison, a gesture that has generated mixed reactions online.
Addressing members of the Heaven Way Champions International Ministry, Asiamah expressed appreciation to the country’s leadership and suggested that their spiritual and moral support played a role in the outcome.
He explained that after Agradaa was sentenced, the family prayed consistently for divine intervention and hoped the nation’s leaders would show compassion.
According to him, they asked God to influence the hearts of the president, the first lady and the vice president, believing that the leaders were sympathetic to their situation and spiritually supportive during the difficult period.
Agradaa regained her freedom on March 3, 2026. Shortly after the news emerged, videos circulated on social media showing her reuniting with family members at her home in the Greater Accra Region.
Before her release, her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, had already indicated that she would be freed on that date following a successful appeal.
The news sparked celebrations among many of her supporters, with large numbers reportedly gathering at the church to welcome their leader back.
However, Asiamah’s comments about the involvement of the president and other senior officials have triggered debate on social media. Some users questioned whether his remarks implied political influence in the legal process.
Several reactions on X raised concerns about the implications of his statement, with some users questioning whether the president had any role in Agradaa’s release, while others criticised the suggestion that political figures might have influenced the case.
Another user even expressed confusion over Asiamah’s remarks, asking when the first lady had supposedly become the vice president.
