WAEC Cancels and Withholds Results Over Examination Malpractice

Following investigations into reported examination irregularities, WAEC announced sanctions against candidates found to have violated examination regulations.

The Council disclosed that the subject results of 496 candidates have been cancelled, while the entire results of 105 candidates have also been nullified.

Additionally, the subject results of 119 candidates and the entire results of 48 candidates have been withheld pending further review.

WAEC further revealed that the subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools have been withheld as investigations continue.

According to the Council, the withheld results will either be released or cancelled based on the outcome of the ongoing investigations, which are expected to be concluded by August 31, 2026.

WAEC Provides Guidance for Affected Candidates

Candidates whose results have been withheld or cancelled have been advised to visit WAEC’s irregularities portal to check the reasons for the Council’s decision and, where applicable, obtain information on the next steps.

Heads of schools and proprietors can also verify the status of affected candidates using their results listing credentials.

Public Warned Against Result Fraud

WAEC cautioned candidates and the general public against individuals claiming they can alter examination results in exchange for payment.

The Council emphasized that its examination results are secure and can be independently authenticated, urging candidates not to fall victim to fraudsters.

WAEC Appreciates Stakeholders

The Council expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), security agencies, heads of schools, supervisors, invigilators, examiners, and all other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful conduct of the 2026 BECE and the timely release of the results.
