The Ghana Education Service (GES) has moved its 2026 teacher recruitment exercise into the next phase, with successful applicants required to complete document verification at their respective Regional Education Directorates before appointment letters are issued.

Under the current recruitment process, regional education directorates have been assigned the responsibility of verifying the credentials of successful applicants before final appointments are confirmed. This marks a shift from previous recruitment exercises, where some aspects of the process were managed centrally at the national level.

The national office of the Ghana Education Service was responsible for selecting applicants based on approved regional vacancies, academic qualifications, teaching specializations, and other recruitment requirements. Following this assessment, a final list of successful applicants was compiled in line with the available vacancies and established recruitment criteria.

With the selection process completed, successful candidates are now expected to report to the regions they selected during their applications to begin the verification and onboarding process. Appointment letters will only be issued after all required documents have been verified and approved.

Documents Required for Verification

To facilitate a smooth verification process, successful applicants are advised to present the following documents:

  • Ghana Card for identity verification. The information on the card must match the details provided during the application process.
  • Academic certificates, including College of Education certificates, university certificates, and any other recognized professional qualifications relevant to the position.
  • National Service Certificate as evidence of completing the mandatory national service programme.
  • National Teaching Council (NTC) Licence Certificate to confirm professional teaching accreditation.
  • WASSCE Certificate, where required, as part of the verification exercise.
  • Birth Certificate to validate personal information and ensure consistency across official records.
  • Printed copy of the recruitment application, which will enable officials to verify personal details, educational background, programme of study, and selected region.
  • Any additional supporting documents that may be requested by the respective Regional Education Directorate.

Applicants Advised to Ensure Accurate Documentation

The Ghana Education Service has advised applicants to ensure that all submitted documents contain consistent and accurate information. Discrepancies involving names, dates of birth, or other personal details could delay the verification process.

Applicants have also been cautioned against submitting forged or altered documents, warning that such actions could result in disqualification from the recruitment exercise and possible legal action.

The regional verification exercise is considered a critical stage of the recruitment process, as it allows the Ghana Education Service to confirm that all successful applicants meet the required qualifications before official appointments are finalized.
