The presidency has officially referred a petition regarding the ongoing teacher recruitment exercise to the Ministry of Education for further review and necessary action.
In a letter dated April 21, 2026, from Jubilee House, the Office of the President confirmed receipt of a petition submitted on April 17, 2026, by former TTAG President Jephthah Kwame Sefah and other petitioners.
The petition questions aspects of the current teacher recruitment process and demands an immediate halt to the exercise until unresolved concerns are addressed.
Under reference number OP5307/26/594, the Presidency instructed the Ministry of Education to examine the matter and take the appropriate steps.
The letter, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, also conveyed the assurances of President John Dramani Mahama.
It was directed to the Minister for Education, with copies shared with the petitioners.
The issue has further intensified public debate surrounding teacher recruitment in Ghana, especially among teacher trainees and newly trained graduates who are awaiting postings and appointments
