President John Dramani Mahama has announced a ministerial reshuffle, appointing Kenneth Gilbert Adjei as the new Minister for Defence.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, Mr Adjei, who previously served as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, has been reassigned to the Defence Ministry. The changes have been formally submitted to Parliament through the Speaker in line with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
As part of the reshuffle, Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The President has also nominated Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, as Minister-designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, while Mahama Ayariga has been named Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
All the new nominations will take effect only after receiving parliamentary approval.
