Kuami Eugene

Award-winning Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene has tipped rapper Medikal as a strong contender to win the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM, Kuami Eugene stated that Medikal currently enjoys massive public backing and possesses one of the strongest fan bases in the Ghanaian music industry, factors he believes could heavily influence the final results.

According to the “Monica” hitmaker, the Artiste of the Year category remains highly competitive, but musicians with broad public appeal and loyal supporters often gain an advantage in awards that involve public voting.

Kuami Eugene also acknowledged that Wendy Shay has built a strong support system over the years, but he believes Medikal’s popularity among the masses gives him an edge in the race.

He explained that whenever an artiste combines a successful musical year with active fan engagement, it usually boosts their chances in award schemes like the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

His remarks have further fuelled ongoing discussions surrounding this year’s Artiste of the Year competition, which has become one of the hottest debates among Ghanaian music fans and entertainment industry stakeholders.

At this year’s TGMA, Medikal faces stiff competition from top nominees including Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton
