The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) of the Ghana Police Service has apprehended a woman identified as Mahama Aminat, popularly known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, for allegedly making threatening and offensive statements against President John Dramani Mahama in a viral social media video.
Police reports indicate that the suspect appeared in TikTok videos where she allegedly insulted the President, threatened both him and his wife, and encouraged acts of violence.
After the videos surfaced online on May 19, 2026, officers from CVET, working together with the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department, launched an operation that led to her arrest on May 20 at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.
She remains in police custody and is expected to face court proceedings in the coming days.
The police stated that the arrest is part of broader measures aimed at tackling abusive, threatening, and unlawful content shared on social media platforms.
