KNUST has announced the death of a second-year student, Ransford Amankwah Asomani, following a fall from an off-campus hostel in Ayeduase, as authorities begin investigations into the incident.

In a statement issued by the management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the university confirmed that the incident occurred over the weekend at a private hostel located off campus.

The deceased, Mr Asomani, was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management. Preliminary information indicates that he fell from the second floor of the hostel in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026.

According to the statement dated Monday, February 9, and signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, colleagues of the student, with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team, rushed him to the KNUST Hospital. He was, however, pronounced dead upon arrival.

University management disclosed that the family of the deceased has been officially notified, and his body has been placed at the hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

The statement expressed the university’s deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed sincere condolences to the bereaved family as well as members of the KNUST community.

KNUST also confirmed that a full investigation has been initiated. The KNUST Police, working together with university security services, are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, with management assuring that further updates will be provided once investigations are concluded.
