The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disclosed that it has begun discussions with the leadership of teacher unions over concerns surrounding the dates being applied to the 2025 teacher promotion exercise.
The engagement took place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, as management sought to address concerns raised by teachers regarding the appropriate dates for the promotion exercise.

The GES said it had taken note of the issues brought forward by teachers and would continue consultations with the various teacher unions to assess the matter and determine the way forward.
Management assured stakeholders that it remains committed to reaching an amicable resolution and will hold further discussions with the unions as the process continues.
The service also appealed to teachers to remain patient and cooperate with management while the engagements are ongoing.

The development follows growing concerns among some teachers over the dates being used for the 2025 promotion exercise, with affected applicants calling for clarification and a clear position from the GES.
The service reiterated its commitment to working with the teacher unions to address the concerns and resolve the matter in the interest of all affected teachers.
