Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has disclosed that about 8,000 newly recruited health professionals are expected to commence work by July 2026 as the government completes the final stages of their placement and deployment process.

According to the minister, the recruitment exercise is almost complete, with the Ministry of Health currently undertaking the necessary administrative procedures to facilitate the successful integration of the recruits into the country’s healthcare system.

Providing an update on the process, Mr Akandoh expressed optimism that all outstanding formalities would be concluded within the next few weeks.

“I do not want to commit to a specific date, but I believe that by July, the process should be fully completed. We expect the recruited personnel to begin work in July,” he stated.

To promote transparency and keep applicants informed, the minister announced that the ministry will soon publish the names of all successful candidates along with the centres where they are required to attend interviews.

The move is intended to address concerns raised by applicants regarding interview arrangements and posting details.

Mr Akandoh indicated that candidates who successfully complete the remaining recruitment requirements will be formally integrated into the health sector workforce.

He further revealed that priority will be given to rural and underserved areas when deploying the newly recruited personnel, as many of these communities continue to face shortages of healthcare professionals.

The minister explained that the government remains focused on improving healthcare delivery nationwide through the equitable distribution of health workers across the country.

The deployment is expected to enhance access to quality healthcare services, particularly in remote communities where shortages of nurses, midwives, and other essential health professionals have posed significant challenges.

The Ministry of Health is expected to provide additional information on interview schedules, deployment plans, and reporting procedures in the coming weeks.

Applicants are therefore encouraged to follow official Ministry of Health communication channels for updates regarding the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
