The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the salary of a teacher from Bole Senior High School who is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate sexual behaviour with a student in the school’s science laboratory after he reportedly failed to return to work following the incident.
According to GES, the teacher is currently on the run, prompting the Service to take immediate administrative measures, including stopping his salary and reporting the matter to the Ghana Police Service for his arrest and further investigations.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, July 1, GES Director-General Professor Ernest Kofi Davis said the Service is collaborating with law enforcement agencies to ensure the teacher is located and made to face both criminal prosecution and disciplinary action.
Professor Davis explained that the teacher had initially been interdicted, but the Service later suspended his salary after he failed to report to duty and could no longer be reached.
He described the alleged misconduct as a serious breach of the professional standards expected of teachers and reaffirmed GES’s commitment to protecting students and maintaining safe learning environments.

“We intend to pursue legal action against the staff member involved while also subjecting him to the disciplinary procedures outlined in our code of conduct. At the end of the process, the appropriate sanctions prescribed by our regulations will be enforced.
“We will impose the toughest penalties available to serve as a deterrent because ensuring the safety of our schools is a priority. Teachers who subject children to the kind of conduct seen in the video have no place in the Ghana Education Service,” Professor Davis stated.
