The Government of Ghana has secured a new overseas employment opportunity for trained teachers, with plans underway to deploy 300 Ghanaian educators to the Bahamas this year under a bilateral education partnership between the two nations.

The development was announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, after attending The Bahamas’ 53rd Independence Anniversary celebrations on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the minister, the initiative is part of a wider collaboration designed to deepen educational ties and strengthen cooperation between Ghana and the Bahamas.

The teacher deployment follows a series of engagements between officials from both countries and marks the initial phase of a broader educational exchange program.

Mr. Ablakwa stated that the arrangement will create employment opportunities for qualified Ghanaian teachers while supporting educational development efforts in The Bahamas.

He added that the agreement demonstrates the growing international recognition of the skills, competence, and professionalism of Ghanaian workers and could open doors for similar opportunities in other sectors.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also revealed that authorities in the Bahamas have been highly impressed with the performance of Ghanaian nurses currently employed in the country through existing international recruitment programs.

Their professionalism, commitment to duty, and strong work ethic have reportedly earned praise and further strengthened confidence in Ghanaian professionals.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the positive impact made by Ghanaian nurses contributed significantly to the discussions that eventually led to the agreement for the recruitment of Ghanaian teachers.

The new arrangement is expected to offer valuable career growth and international work experience for trained teachers while enhancing educational cooperation between the two countries.

Additional information regarding the recruitment process, qualification criteria, and deployment schedule is expected to be released by the appropriate authorities in the coming months.
