The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers has announced an upward adjustment in the price of sachet water, effective Monday, April 6, 2026, citing rising polymer costs and global supply challenges.
According to the association, the new pricing will apply to ex-factory, ex-truck, and retail levels nationwide.
In a statement issued on April 2, 2026, it explained that the increase is driven by a global shortage of polymers and a surge in their prices, a situation further worsened by ongoing tensions in Iran.
These developments have significantly raised production costs, making it difficult for producers to maintain existing prices.
Under the revised structure, a bag of 500ml sachet water (30 pieces) will now sell at GH¢8 ex-factory, GH¢10 ex-truck, and a maximum retail price of GH¢15.
The association urged both retailers and consumers to comply with the new pricing to promote fair trade practices. It noted that the adjustment is necessary to sustain the industry amid increasing operational expenses.
Industry observers suggest the price hike will likely impact small-scale retailers and urban consumers the most, especially those who depend on sachet water for daily use.
Despite the increase, NASPAWAP reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to maintain a balanced market that safeguards the interests of both producers and consumers.
