The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a revised schedule for its nationwide training and sensitisation programme on the 2026 School Selection Guidelines and Placement Procedures, while confirming that 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will begin selecting their preferred Senior High Schools (SHSs), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs), and STEM schools on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
In a circular issued by the Service, GES stated that the training programme, which was initially scheduled under a directive dated July 6, 2026, has been rescheduled and will now run from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, 2026.

Regional and District Education Directors to Undergo Training
According to GES, all Regional Directors of Education, together with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education, are required to participate in the training sessions at their respective Regional Education Offices.
The Service explained that the programme is intended to equip education administrators with a comprehensive understanding of the 2026 school selection guidelines and placement procedures, enabling them to effectively supervise, coordinate, and support the nationwide school selection exercise.
GES added that participants will receive detailed guidance on the school selection process, with the official programme itinerary and participant list accompanying the circular.
2026 BECE School Selection Exercise Begins July 29
GES has also confirmed that the 2026 BECE school selection exercise will officially commence on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

During the exercise, candidates will select their preferred Senior High Schools (SHSs), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs), and STEM schools ahead of the release of the 2026 BECE results.
The Service announced that Friday, August 7, 2026, has been set as the deadline for the submission of completed school selection forms.

Revised Circular Supersedes Earlier Directive
GES has directed all Regional Directors of Education to communicate the revised schedule to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors and ensure their full participation in the training programme.
The Service further stated that the latest circular supersedes the earlier communication issued on July 6, 2026, making the revised timetable the official schedule for the nationwide training and sensitisation exercise on the 2026 School Selection Guidelines and Placement Procedures.
