President John Mahama has instructed the Auditor-General to carry out a thorough forensic audit into the organisation and management of the 13th All-Africa Games, following a report submitted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Sources from the Presidency told JoyNews that the directive is aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency, and ensuring value for money in the use of public funds for the continental sporting event.
The audit, to be supervised by the Auditor-General, will focus on both the financial and operational aspects of the Games. It will assess areas such as procurement and contracting processes, financial administration, project execution, asset management, and institutional oversight.
In particular, the investigation will look into how contractors and suppliers were selected to confirm adherence to the Public Procurement Act.
It will also review the handling of funds and expenditures including sponsorships and evaluate whether the timelines, costs, and quality of the facilities constructed met expectations for value for money.
Additionally, the audit will confirm the ownership and current condition of assets acquired or developed and assess how effectively various agencies and committees collaborated in organising the Games.
The Auditor-General is required to present the final report of the forensic audit to President Mahama by the second week of December 2025
