The Ghana Education Service (GES) has instructed Heads of Basic Schools nationwide to commence the uploading of candidates’ school choices ahead of the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise.
The uploading exercise is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 19, to Friday, August 21, 2026, as part of measures to support the timely processing and eventual release of placements for 2026 BECE candidates.
In a letter dated August 18, 2026, GES Management directed Regional Directors of Education to ensure that Heads of Basic Schools in their respective regions upload candidates’ selected schools onto the CSSPS portal for pre-testing.
The service explained that the exercise will take place ahead of the opening of the official school choice-selection portal by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
How to Upload Candidates’ School Choices
Heads of Basic Schools have been directed to follow these steps:
- Visit the CSSPS portal at www.cssps.gov.gh.
- Select “Choice Confirmations.”
- Enter the candidate’s Index Number and Date of Birth.
- Click on “Edit” to input the candidate’s selected schools.
- Carefully review the information entered before submitting it.
The GES has urged school authorities to pay particular attention to the information submitted and verify all selections thoroughly to ensure that candidates’ choices are correctly recorded.
2026 CSSPS Upload Schedule
The exercise will follow the timeline below:
- August 19, 2026: Uploading of candidates’ school choices begins.
- August 20, 2026: Uploading continues.
- August 21, 2026: Deadline for submission of school choices.
According to the GES, the exercise forms part of preparations for the 2026 school placement process and is aimed at helping to ensure that placements are processed and released on schedule.
