The Ministry of Health has announced the commencement of the next phase of its recruitment exercise for approximately 8,000 health professionals, following the successful completion of the application stage.

In a letter dated June 17, 2026, addressed to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the Ministry indicated that user accounts have been created for national, regional, and district health officials to access the recruitment portal and facilitate the screening and verification process.

According to the Ministry, all submitted applications have been consolidated and uploaded onto the district-level section of the recruitment portal.

District directors of health services will oversee the screening process under the supervision of their respective regional directors.

The Ministry noted that the portal may also contain applications submitted to other healthcare providers, including the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Health Service (AMHS).

As part of efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, district authorities have been directed to establish interview panels to conduct the screening exercise.

These panels are expected to comprise representatives from the relevant district assemblies, as well as representatives from CHAG and AMHS in districts where the organisations operate health facilities.

All districts have been given until June 26, 2026, to complete the screening and verification process.

Successful candidates are expected to be appointed and assume their roles in July 2026.

The recruitment exercise forms part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the healthcare system by addressing critical staffing shortages and enhancing service delivery across health facilities nationwide.
