Recruitment

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially published the recruitment status of applicants who took part in the 2026 teacher recruitment exercise, enabling thousands of trained teachers nationwide to find out whether they have been selected for employment.

The announcement comes after weeks of anticipation following Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu’s disclosure that about 7,000 teachers would be recruited into the Ghana Education Service as part of the government’s efforts to provide jobs for trained teachers.

Applicants can now verify the outcome of their applications through the official GES recruitment portal.

Meaning of each recruitment status

Successful/Approved

Applicants whose status appears as Successful or Approved have been shortlisted for recruitment into the Ghana Education Service.

This means they have secured a place among the approximately 7,000 candidates selected in the current recruitment exercise and should await further communication from GES regarding appointment letters, postings, and other administrative procedures.

GES has advised successful applicants not to be concerned if they are unable to download an appointment letter immediately, as the Service has only released recruitment results and has not yet issued appointment letters.

Unsuccessful

Applicants who receive an Unsuccessful status were not selected during the current recruitment exercise.

GES explained that an unsuccessful outcome does not imply that an applicant lacks the required qualifications or professional competence. The exercise was highly competitive, with more than 40,000 trained teachers reportedly applying for the limited vacancies available.

Those who were not selected are encouraged to remain hopeful, as the government has indicated that another teacher recruitment exercise is expected later this year.

Appointment letters not yet available

The Ghana Education Service has clarified that the current process is solely for checking recruitment results.

Applicants should note that:

  • Appointment letters have not yet been uploaded.
  • There are currently no appointment letters available for download.
  • Successful applicants should wait for an official announcement from GES on the release of appointment letters, postings, and the next stages of the recruitment process.

GES is expected to provide additional information on these procedures in the coming days.
