The Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has announced the application deadline for admission into Ghana’s 49 public Colleges of Education for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Eligible applicants have been encouraged to complete the admission process before the deadline to avoid missing out on the opportunity.

The admission exercise is intended for prospective students who wish to pursue the four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme offered by the various public Colleges of Education nationwide.

According to PRINCOF, applicants are expected to purchase and complete their admission e-vouchers and submit their applications no later than August 31, 2026. The conference advised candidates not to wait until the final days, as delays could affect their applications.

Admission Requirements

Applicants seeking admission into any of Ghana’s public Colleges of Education must meet the minimum entry requirements established by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the colleges’ affiliated universities.

For candidates with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), applicants must obtain credit passes (A1–C6) in six subjects, made up of:

  • Three core subjects:
    • English Language
    • Mathematics
    • Integrated Science or Social Studies
  • Three elective subjects that are relevant to the programme they intend to study.

In addition, applicants must satisfy the aggregate score requirements for their chosen programme.

Candidates with the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) must also obtain grades A–D in six subjects, including the required core and elective subjects.

Admission Selection

Admission into the public Colleges of Education will be determined by several factors, including:

  • Academic performance and qualifications.
  • Verification of examination results and supporting documents.
  • Fulfilment of programme-specific admission requirements.
  • Availability of vacancies in the selected colleges.

Applicants who are successful will receive official admission offers through the designated admission channels. They will then be expected to complete all enrolment procedures before the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.

PRINCOF has therefore encouraged all aspiring teacher trainees to begin their applications as early as possible and take advantage of the opportunity to pursue a professional career in teaching through Ghana’s Colleges of Education.
